Words of Wisdom

* For most math problems, don't just write down the answers.  Show all your math thinking, step-by-step, to solve the problems.

* Please read the examples from the book when you study or when you don't understand something.

Work Together, Help Others, Learn Together

Work Together, Help Others, Learn Together

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,
I have four big goals for my students this school year:

#1 Students will use math to understand their communities and the rest of their world.

#2 Students will develop problem-solving skills, so that they can do ANY math task.

#3  Students will develop reasoning skills, so they can prove and explain their work to others.

#4  Students will use and understand how technology, such as iPads, can help with math.

Topics: This school year, students will learn about Rational Numbers, Absolute Value, Fractions, Decimals, Ratios, Rates, Expressions, Equations, Inequalities, Distributions, Variability, Surface Area, and Volume.  These topics make up all of the 6th grade Common Core State Standards (CCSS).  We have a lot to learn, but I am here to support every student and family.  I hope this class will be helpful, challenging, inspiring, and exciting!
