Bell Schedules

2016-17 Bell Schedule

Bell Schedule Overview

We are excited to announce a powerful change in our Bell Schedule for the 2017-2018 school year. We have worked to redesign our schedule to better meet the Graduate Profile of Vision 2025. We are moving to a block schedule, where each class lasts for 72 minutes, to allow students to participate in hands-on, engaging lessons and Project Based Learning.  Students will be able to start their classes earlier, when they are dropped off for school.  Students will receive extra time for group work and teacher support.

Bell Schedule Highlights:

  1. All classes will begin earlier, at 8:15am, every day. No more late start Wednesdays! We will also have breakfast delivered to and eaten in the classroom.
  2. Students will be dismissed at 3:00pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
  3. Students will be dismissed at 1:15pm on Tuesdays and Fridays to allow staff to collaborate and plan our newly re-designed classes. ROCK Beacon after school program will open at the end of the last class every day, and run until 6:00pm. More time for field trips and tutoring with ROCK! We are working with our neighborhood programs to support students on early release days.

After School Opportunities

On early release days, students have the following options for enrichment and support:

  1. ROCK Afterschool Program - Tutoring, Arts, Recreation, Technology, Field Trips
  2. SPARK Mentorship program - Travel to downtown companies to learn about technology fields
  3. Art Classes - Take Art classes taught by SFUSD teachers such as mariachi, hip-hop, graphic design, and signing
  4. Volunteering Opportunities - Walk to El Dorado Elementary School and Visitacion Valley Elementary School to read with younger students and help students with their homework
